VERO MODA and The Salvation Army in Europe Join Forces to ‘Share the Warmth’
FASHION brand VERO MODA is working with The Salvation Army across Europe this month in order to provide vital winter clothing with which to keep vulnerable women warm. The company – which already has a strong commitment to sustainability – is encouraging its customers to donate pre-owned coats and jackets to help ‘Share the Warmth’, in exchange for a 20 per cent discount off a new garment when purchased in-store.
The campaign will run from 7 to 25 October 2020 in all VERO MODA stores in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Færoe Islands, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Norway, Republic of Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Salvation Army teams will collect the donated items from participating VERO MODA stores and check over each piece of clothing. Any damage will be repaired so that women in need will only receive fit-for-purpose, warm clothing. The garments will be distributed via The Salvation Army’s networks of shelters and other social services centres.
In a similar initiative run in Denmark during autumn 2019, around 6,000 items of clothing were collected and distributed to vulnerable women. This year, it is hoped that even more will be achieved.
‘At VERO MODA, we believe in social responsibility and helping each other will bring us all to a joyful and better way of life,’ says a company spokesperson. ‘We know our customers share our view, and therefore we want to team up with The Salvation Army and Share our Warmth – making a difference for others in need.’
Jette Skov, Corporate Social Responsibility and Marketing Manager for Salvation Army Recycling in Denmark, responds: ‘We are very grateful for this collaboration with VERO MODA and we are incredibly impressed with the 6,000 jackets we received last year. For people in need, a warm winter jacket has real value both in fulfilling an important practical necessity and also leaving a warm emotional impression of thoughtfulness and kindness. That is what we call humanity, and it means just as much as physically receiving a warm coat.
‘Now we are looking forward to Share the Warmth with women in need again, thanks to VERO MODA’s generous customers. Last year it evoked a lot of happiness and we are sure it will again in 2020.’
