Women Who Hope: Bronwyn
Commissioner Bronwyn Buckingham is a Salvation Army officer (minister) from New Zealand. She is the World President of Women’s Ministries, overseeing rich and diverse ministry to women in 134 countries.
Hope is a light to those it touches, and a testament to a life rooted in Jesus.
As The Salvation Army’s World President of Women’s Ministries, I am deeply grateful for the countless women and men who live out hope each day. The people who persevere to find the good. Who see the person past the stigma. Who cast a vision for something new amid ruins and rubble. Who pour out love and care, even when the road is long and difficult. Who embody the challenge of Romans 12:12 and ‘rejoice in hope.’
In The Salvation Army, our hope for women is big and bold: We long to see lives transformed by the life-changing message of Jesus, knowing it will see women empowered to live with purpose and passion. We want to see women connected – heart to heart – in communities where care and support flow freely, enriching both their lives and the lives of those they touch.
We dream of seeing women seize every opportunity to grow, to learn, and to develop, no matter their age or background, so that they may rise into their full potential. Above all, we desire to see women who are deeply engaged in doing what is right, just, and good. Women who, fuelled by conviction and compelled by the love of God, work together to make a positive impact in their families, churches, communities and beyond.
Together, may we continue to believe in, and hope for, the possibility of transformation.
