Find international service opportunities with The Salvation Army. Opportunities are open to Salvation Army officers or, where indicated, lay members (soldiers and adherents).

Most opportunities are for a three-year term and will be filled within 12 - 24 months. Opportunities marked 'urgent' are to be filled immediately.

To apply for any of these opportunities, request the relevant forms from your local Salvation Army territorial headquarters. These can also be found in Orders and Regulations for Officers on International Service in Appendix 5. Send the completed forms to your territory. The territory will submit these to International Headquarters together with their recommendation.

Corps Officers - Various corps in Norway, Iceland & the Faeroe Islands
Knowledge of Norwegian, Icelandic (for Iceland) or other Scandinavian language. The Norwegian government requires that applicants from outside the EU/EEA have a relevant degree at master's level. 

Corps Officer - Germany
Opportunities exist for officers to lead established corps in many parts of Germany. Some knowledge of German is required – along with a willingness to learn the language and embrace the culture.

Corps Officers - Italy
Experienced corps officers. Italian speaking and willing to adapt to the culture in Italy.

Corps Officers - Finland (Urgent)
Officers or soldiers to lead a small Swedish speaking corps, or several Finnish speaking corps. Finnish or Swedish language skills essential. Suitable also for family with children.

Corps Officers - Austria (Vienna)
Some knowledge of German, for single or married officers, willingness to develop a small corps.

Assistant Corps Officers - Taiwan
Officers, experience in working with children and youth, keen for discipleship training. Fluent in written and spoken Chinese (Mandarin), Taiwanese-speaking is an advantage. Suitable for a family with children. The corps is a small and old corps. However, the neighbourhood is not an aging one. New officers may see different opportunities in the city. The current corps officers will be retiring in 2026, the appointment is preferably to be filled in early 2025 so there is enough time for settling in and handover.

Corps Officer - Malaysia
An officer required for a small vibrant corps in Malaysia. English speaking with the ability to lead, preach and manage the business side of the corps in English. This appointment could suit a married couple and they would both be corps officers with an emphasis on corps growth and development. The officers would be required to lead the corps with limited oversight so experience of this would be an advantage and proven initiative and passion. From 1 May 2025. Not suitable for a couple with children due to immigration issues.

Corps Officer - Singapore
An officer required to lead a moderately large urban corps in Singapore. English speaking with the ability to lead, preach and deal with corps business in English. A married couple would be suitable giving the focus on corps growth and development. Experience of leading a corps with moderate to high socio-economic and educated soldiers. From 1 May 2025. Not suitable for a couple with children due to immigration issues.

Corps Officer - Suriname
A Dutch speaking officer needed to be the corps officer at a small corps (30-50 members) in Suriname. This position is suited to a single officer or married couple. Usual corps officer duties with social outreach. Experience of pastoral and administrative roles. Due to lack of suitable schooling in the area this would not suit a couple with children. Officers should be willing to adapt to a new culture and possible inner-city community. Needed by July 2025.

Corps Officer - Bahamas
An English speaking officer needed to be the corps officer at a small inner city corps (30-50 members) in the Bahamas. This position is suited to a single officer or married couple. Usual corps officer activities along with social outreach. Experience of pastoral and administrative roles. Due to lack of suitable schooling in the area this role is not suitable for a couple with children. Officers should be willing to adapt to a new culture and possible inner-city community. Needed by July 2025.

Corps Officer - Jamaica
An English speaking officer needed to be the corps officer at a small inner city corps (65-80 members) in Jamaica. This position is suited to a single officer or married couple. Usual Corps Officer activities along with social outreach. Experience of pastoral and administrative roles. Due to lack of suitable schooling in the area this role is not suitable for a couple with children. Officers should be willing to adapt to a new culture and possible inner-city community. Needed by July 2025.

Business and Programme Officer - Malaysia
An officer based in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia from 1 May 2025 to be the Programme and Business Director Officer at the regional office. English speaking and able to lead, preach and do business in English. Preference for a married couple with one spouse to undertake business for the region and the other to oversee programme. Will involve travel throughout the region therefore not suitable for a couple with children. Also immigration issues would be a barrier to children.

Regional Secretary - Taiwan
An officer is needed to assist the regional commander to oversee the business management of the region, based at regional headquarters, Taipei, Taiwan. This is an English speaking role but knowledge of Chinese would be an advantage, and help can be given to improve the acquisition of the Chinese language. Responsibilities will include finance, property and human resources, and will include approving expenses to a given amount. Membership of various boards. This position could suit a married officer but is not suitable for those with children. An officer spouse could be a project officer and additional responsibilities.

Director of Health - Papua New Guinea
An English speaking officer is required, who is a health professional with administrative and team leadership skills to oversee the work of the territory’s health services (28 clinics and Community Health Workers Training School – CHWTS). A registered doctor is preferred but other health professionals may be suitable. The territory is culturally diverse and presents challenging living conditions. A high degree of resilience and self-sufficiency is required. This would suit a single or married officer but preferably without children as the setting is not ideal for children. Any cost of schooling would need to be met by the home territory. The appointment will be vacant by mid May 2025. The territory needs to have this appointment filled as soon as possible. This service offers a significant and valued contribution to the health infrastructure of Papua New Guinea. The director also maintains important collaborative relationships with other providers and the government, and has responsibility for all health-related projects. Based in Port Moresby.
