Summary of presentation of information
Attendees reviewed a statement submitted to the UN by the Bahai’i International Community about the uniqueness and necessity of women’s voices in the field of climate action. There was time for discussion, and we closed with slam poetry. The statement discussed culture changes to equally value traditionally feminine traits in leaders.
What information shared in this meeting is of significance to The Salvation Army and why?
It is important that women in leadership in The Salvation Army are not just present in male spaces but that our culture is one that equally values male and female contributions.
What is The Salvation Army currently doing to address the UN Sustainable Development Goals addressed in this meeting?
We have an International Position Statement on Sexism and are committed to having women in leadership.
What opportunities are there for The Salvation Army to create or further develop the work in this area?
Inclusion of people affected by certain issues in the problem-solving and decision-making process could look like the formation of special committees (i.e. women, youth, BIPOC).
