The International Social Justice Commission is The Salvation Army's strategic voice to advocate for human dignity and social justice with the world's poor and oppressed. We are part of The Salvation Army’s International Headquarters and our office is based in New York City.

According to the United Nations, 244 million children are out of school and 763 million adults cannot read or write.

The Salvation Army supports 500,000 children across over 2,500 schools in 45 countries with the help of 20,000 teachers. They also provide non-formal education for 4,000 children and special needs programs for 11,000.

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God.

Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
