How is Easter relevant to social justice?

At the time of this writing, Christians around the world have just celebrated Easter Sunday, 17 April, but Eastertide lasts 50 days– leading up to Pentecost Sunday – 5 June 2022.

So how does Easter relate to matters of social justice?

The resurrection of Jesus, celebrated by Christians at Easter, marks the beginning, the inauguration of the new creation. It happened on ‘the first day of the week’ (John 20:1) signifying something entirely new has begun.

On Resurrection Day, more evidence of this new beginning is the culture shift of God’s Kingdom – whose foundation is ‘righteousness and justice (Psalm 89:14) demonstrated in the divine choice for the risen Lord Jesus to appear first to Mary [Magdalene] (Mark 16:9).

Things to Pray For

For Colonels Munn as they enter retirement and for our new Directors, Colonels Wendy and Ian Swan, as they take leadership of the ISJC.

For team members Meble and Tinashe, may they develop spiritually, professionally, and personally and may the Lord guide their work.

For the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, that we may continue to pursue them earnestly and with the direction of the Lord.

For opportunities to advocate and engage with other advocates, as well as amplifying the voices of marginalised groups, as we work towards a more just and equitable world.
