Taiwan
Pioneered in 1928 by Colonel Yasowo Segawa, work in Taiwan was curtailed by the Second World War. Following initiatives by American servicemen Leslie Lovestead and Robert McEaneney, operations were officially re-established in October 1965 by Colonel and Mrs George Lancashire.
In 1974, Taiwan became a division of the Hong Kong and Taiwan Command, but since 1997 has been a separate region. In 1996 The Salvation Army was registered as a Legal Foundation with the Ministry of Interior.
