Reflections on Justice
'As women weep, as they do now, I'll fight; while little children go hungry, as they do now, I'll fight ...'
William Booth, Founder of The Salvation Army
The struggle for social justice is as real today as it has ever been.
The call to go and do something, to fight for the one dark soul, continues to resonate in Salvation Army ministry.
Reflections on Justice is a daily devotional written by Salvation Army women who are engaged in social justice and action to positively impact the world. Each day contains Scripture, reflective reading, prayer and a challenge to go and do something good for others.
With the release of the Reflections on Justice devotional series, International Women's Ministries is launching its first ever global reading event, taking place from 1st November to 1st December. We want you to be part of it!
Why November?
The month of November is of great importance to justice-seeking women as it marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women followed by the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence.
This daily reading plan will prepare our hearts and minds for these critical dates with Scripture, prayer and challenge. Take this opportunity to gather family, friends and staff teams to read together, either in person or on the Bible App by YouVersion.
- on the Bible App – this material is available as a reading plan on the Bible App by YouVersion
- journal – a colourful journal designed for downloading or printing to read at home.
Start the reading plan
Reflections on Justice can be read at any time, on any day of the year. However, it is designed to be enjoyed across a 31-day period so you may find it works best to start on the first day of a new month. There are two ways to access the reading plan:
Read in community
Share the invitation to read and pray with others in your corps or church community, in person or on the Bible App. Each day ends with a challenge and opportunity for personal reflection or discussion, so join with family, friends or colleagues and go on this journey together.
Connect with others
Follow Salvation Army Women on Facebook and Instagram to receive prompts on your feed each day, to connect with others who are reading and be encouraged.
When you read Reflections on Justice, you are joining with a global community of readers. This is inspired by our vision to see a Salvation Army where women are enriched mutually through local and global connections and support.
Digital reading plans are available on the Bible App by YouVersion:
