When Krista Neymeiyer’s basement flooded with three feet of water recently, she considered leaving her house and staying with friends. After all, many of her neighbors gave up and literally escaped to higher ground. But Krista stayed – and as such, was especially happy to see The Salvation Army mobile kitchen roll into her Grand Rapids neighborhood on Thursday. “I’m so happy to see you. You do amazing work,” Krista said over the buzz of the generator still pumping flood water from her basement. “God bless you all.”

The rain stopped several days ago – but the flood relief continues. And now more than ever, The Salvation needs your help! The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services needs volunteers to assist with flood relief efforts – now through May 3.
