gladisandchildAfter working in health services for ten years, Gladis Martinez lost her job and struggled to support her family while expecting her third child.  She came to The Salvation Army for medical help.

“Never in my life have I ever experienced such a wonderful program,” Gladis explained in a video interview during the 2012 Red Kettle Kick-off.

“In the bible it says God will give you more than what your hands can hold.  And when (I received from The Salvation Army), I felt that the bible was being confirmed in my life.”

The Salvation Army’s Prenatal and Family Health Clinic welcomed Gladis with open arms and provided her with care, education and support.  Now, Gladis and her family are back on their feet.

The Salvation Army’s Social Services works in partnership with Cherry Street Health Services to provide women and children with medical care and OB / GYN services, traditional and alternative prenatal care, annual physicals, family planning and child well exams.  Last year, the Prenatal Family Health Clinic assisted nearly 400 women and children, including Gladis Martinez.
