Major Mike McKee tapped to be liaison with United Nations during typhoon relief and response efforts
Major Mike McKee, Corps Officer from The Salvation Army of Benton Harbor, was recently tapped to be deployed to help coordinate The Salvation Army’s relief efforts in the Philippines following the recent typhoon. Typhoon Haiyan made landfall in the central Philippines on November 8, 2013, ripping through the region, creating widespread destruction and death.
When he arrives in the Philippines, Major McKee will serve as The Salvation Army’s liaison with the UN and other major relief agencies to help coordinate the outpouring of aid and relief to those who are devastated by the disaster. McKee will also have the direct responsibility for the day to day operation of several major relief projects sponsored by The Salvation Army’s International Headquarters. Uniquely qualified to fill the responsibilities of this important assignment, Major McKee served as Field Operations Officer for International Disasters at The Salvation Army’s International Headquarters in London, England from 2004 – 2007.
We continue to pray for the health, provision and safety of the Philippine people as well as for Major McKee and all the relief agency workers as they rebuild this hard-hit region. May efforts to aid those in the greatest need continue to be blessed by our Heavenly Father.
