Doughnut Day
Join The Salvation Army in celebrating the 77th annual National Doughnut Day this Friday, June 6. The Salvation Army Action Group is excited to distribute free doughnuts to over 60 local organizations who are “Doing the Most Good” from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. These organizations include Dwelling Place, Habitat for Humanity, Mel Trotter, and many more. The day will start with the distribution of free doughnuts to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and move on from there. Doughnut day was first celebrated by The Salvation Army in Chicago in 1938 to help those in need during the Great Depression and to commemorate the work of the “doughnut lassies” who served soldiers during World War I. Many thanks are given to Krispy Kreme and their generous donation of 2,000 doughnuts as well as Cornerstone University for serving as the Location Sponsor.
