The Salvation Army of Kent County successfully raised over $176,000 in total donations from Monday, December 22 through Christmas Eve, capping a highly successful three day campaign. The $136,000 donation total collected during the three days was used to activate the $40,000 matching gift which was made possible through the generosity of community leaders, private donors and members of The Salvation Army’s Grand Rapids Advisory Board.

To date, the overall Red Kettle campaign has raised $1,336,000 of the current $1.66 million goal – which translates to approximately 80% of the total goal achieved.

Although the Red Kettles have gone quiet for the season, the human need and the campaign to raise $1.66 million to meet that need continues.

The public can support The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign online, by phone at 616.459.3433 or 1-800-SAL-ARMY, or by sending financial gifts directly to The Salvation Army, 1215 Fulton Street East, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49503-3849. A $10 donation is also available by texting “SARMY” to 41444. Donations will be billed through the donor’s cell phone service. Certain phone service provider charges may also apply.

The campaign officially concludes January 31.
