Vibrant colors, music and laughter accompanied more than 350 children during Army Prize – this year’s annual Troop Rally and Music Day for Salvation Army children’s troops from West Michigan and Northern Indiana division corps.

The rally took place on Saturday, March 9, 2013 from 9 am – 3 pm at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. From near and far, Adventure Corps, Sunbeams, Girl Guards and Moonbeams came by the bus load to participate in music competition, art competition and several creative workshops.

Six corps participated in the music competition, where they were rated on an identical piece and a piece of their choice, both prepared in advance. For the art competition, several troops brought their artwork to compete for a popular vote. During the awards ceremony, skits were performed by The Bill Booth Theatre Company from Chicago, who also conducted a drama workshop. Other workshops included a band, timbrels, Colors in Motion (ribbon dancing), puppeteering, balloon animals, and gospel illusion.

By the end of the day, the children left with music in their ears and memories in their hearts!
