Little Pine Island Kid's Camp

The timeless experience of overnight summer camp evokes fond memories for many citizens of west Michigan. It is also an experience that many families cannot afford. Little Pine Island Camp is located just north of Grand Rapids, and provides seven weekly overnight camping sessions for hundreds of youth. Three-quarters of the campers live below the poverty line, but many are able to attend the camp with little or no cost to their family. The camp carefully selects staff each year to guide campers through well-planned programs maintaining the highest standards of health and safety.

The purpose of Pine Island Camp is to serve the physical, social, and spiritual needs of each individual camper. The camp helps meet these needs by helping campers develop the foundation of good health habits like proper nutrition, exercise, and adequate rest. The camp addresses the social needs of the campers in a group living arrangement where campers have the opportunity to make good decisions and foster independence. Campers spiritual needs are met though discussion on the spiritual dimensions of life illustrated by the teachings of Jesus Christ.
