Give Once; Bless Twice Three-Day Christmas Campaign Results
The three-day "Give Once; Bless Twice" campaign raised over $273,000 between Dec. 22 through Christmas Eve. This far exceeded last year’s “Double Your Donation” campaign, which raised over $176,000 in total donations during the three days before Christmas.
Helping The Salvation Army to activate the $60,000 matching gift was a donation given by Grand Rapids, Mich.-based retailer Meijer in honor of Senator Arthur Vandenberg.
“To raise over $273,000 in total donations in three days is a testament to the generosity of Meijer, the local community and our Advisory Board in support of the programs and services of The Salvation Army right here in Kent County,” said Major Norman Grainger, Kent County Coordinator. “We are encouraged by the success of the ‘Give Once; Bless Twice’ campaign – however we still have significant work ahead of us in raising the final $300,000 of our $1.6 million goal,” Grainger added.
To date, the overall Red Kettle Christmas campaign has raised $1.3 million of the current $1.6 million goal – which translates to 80 percent of the total goal achieved.
You can still support The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign through the end of January. Donations may be made online, by phone at 616.459.3433, or by sending financial gifts directly to The Salvation Army, 1215 Fulton Street East, Grand Rapids, Mich. 49503-3849.
