FEMA and The Salvation Army Renew Agreement for Disaster Cooperation
Reaffirms partnership and commitment to coordinating on disasters.
Phoenix, Ariz. (April 19, 2016) –David Jeffrey, National Commander of The Salvation Army and Craig Fugate, Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), signed an agreement renewing the longstanding relationship between the national nonprofit and federal agency. The updated agreement outlines the ways in which FEMA and The Salvation Army will cooperate to carry out their respective responsibilities in disaster preparedness, protection, response, recovery and mitigation operations in the event of a natural, human-caused or technological disaster.
"This document signifies that The Salvation Army and FEMA are partners, working together in the most important mission of any disaster relief operation – helping people,” said Commissioner Jeffrey. “As Administrator Fugate has pointed out, it takes the whole of community coming together to help people recover from a disaster, and The Salvation Army is proud to be included as part of that team."
