Monterey Corps honors Sabu Shake Sr.' Renames Good Samaritan Center
Sabu Shake Sr. Honored in Ceremony
Sand City, CA (October 2, 2015): The Salvation Army of Monterey County paid tribute to Sabu Shake Sr. and the Shake family by changing the name of their Homeless facility in Sand City today.
“We are able to help many people because of the financial support from the Shake Family which is true to the established tradition of their Patriarch” said Captain Paul Swain, Monterey Peninsula Corps Officer for The Salvation Army.
Last year The Salvation Army distributed 3300 food boxes, provided rental assistance to 170 families, provided 14,800 housing nights and served 29,000 hot meals to homeless clients.
“We couldn’t have done all that without the family support provided and arranged by Chris and Sabu, Jr Shake” said Swain.
The occasion marked the change of the name to “Sabu Shake Sr. Good Samaritan Center” effective October 2.
Chairman of The Salvation Army Advisory Board, Douglas Coates concluded the ceremony commenting “By the end of this year, Shake Family support to date will surpass two million dollars in donations to The Salvation Army. This important event marks our everlasting gratitude of the past support, and our commitment to continue the relationship so vital to our service to the Monterey Peninsula community”
