ECHO accreditation application and new membership of ACT Alliance
ECHO is the EU’s department for humanitarian aid and civil protection. This is one of the world’s largest contributors to humanitarian aid and disaster relief. The Salvation Army wishes to be in partnership with ECHO and therefore has recently submitted an application to become ECHO accredited. The ECHO partnership application team is based in the Netherlands in conjunction with IHQ. We are now awaiting their response to our application. If successful this would enable The Salvation Army to apply to ECHO for humanitarian aid and disaster funding in various parts of the world. A communication document is being prepared to help everyone explore the opportunities this partnership would provide The International Salvation Army and individual offices.
ACT Aliance
On the 11th of August we were notified that the Governing Board of the ACT Alliance approved The Salvation Army's membership to the ACT Alliance. ACT Alliance is a global alliance of churches and related organisations focusing on long-term development and humanitarian assistance. The alliance has a membership of more than 130 organisations, working with about 30,000 members of staff and volunteers, in 140 countries. A communication document is being prepared to help everyone explore the opportunities that membership of the ACT Alliance provides The International Salvation Army and individual offices.
