How do you rationalise/justify not making use of EU funding opportunities? Well, for those who have grasped the 'nettle' it has been a rewarding journey with positive outcomes. The EU Affairs Office invites The Salvation Army to send delegates to attend a conference on EU Funding on 7-9 November in Brussels.

The EU can fund…

  • Social innovation projects, social inclusion and integration programmes as well as social entrepreneurship/ enterprises.
  • Youth exchange, education programmes, development of youth voluntary opportunities, youth leader training, youth camps and internship programmes.
  • The EU can fund new buildings such as hostels for the homeless or refurbishment of existing hostels/ homes.
  • The EU can help support work related to women's issues, staff training, capacity building of NGO's to fund raise and much, much more.

Yes, there is an administrative burden but no more than any social service department seeking governmental subsidy applications. Not all EU funds are for large projects. Many funds are open to even a local corps officer to make an application. If not confident to go alone, you can partner with others.  Larger Territories can be senior partners and make multinational applications on behalf of smaller territories/commands.

Learning to access EU Funding will add another funding stream/source for Army mission activities. It is a large untapped reservoir of funds that can be accessed for large social projects, small local initiatives, Youth activities, Women’s issues, AHT, Roma, Poverty and Homelessness, Social Inclusion, Refugees and Migrant Integration, Social Enterprises , GapYear Progammes, New Buildings etc.

Is it time your Territory made the investment to learn how to access EU funding?  Once successful, it pays for its self.

And so, who should attend?

  • Business Administration Leaders (who can recognise the potential)
  • Social service subsidy writers.
  • Foundation/Donor Project application writers.
  • Divisional/Regional Leaders.
  • Other interested parties.

When is the conference happening? 7-9 November 2017

Where is the conference taking place? Brussels.

How much will it cost? €370 per delegate which will include conference and guest speakers, accommodation (Atlas Hotel), meals and local transport for a trip to the EU Parliament.

How do we apply? Details to be sent via the IHQ Europe office.
