Is there space for a Social Europe in the upcoming years? What are the priorities at the European level which the citizens feel the most important? And what kind of challenges and solutions should the EU take care of?

Anti-European feelings resulting from political elections in many EU countries, as well as the ongoing Brexit talks have put a shadow on the capacity of the European Union to communicate its usefulness to European citizens. At the same time, our interconnected world needs integrated and solidal solutions to effectively address the current social challenges. Ahead of a dedicated EU Summit in Sibiu, Romania, and the European elections in 2019, national leaders agreed on a Leaders' Agenda on pressing issues and challenges where solutions are needed. To give citizens the possibility of having a say on what they think about  the future of Europe, the European Commission has produced an online consultation open to everybody.  This should help to identify the main expectations of Europeans, as well as the policy issues that matter most to them.

Different scenarios on the future of the 27 members have been designed by the Commission, depending on the ambition of the political commitments which will appear from next year.

You can contribute to this consultation, available in 24 languages, by clicking here.
You will also find the White paper that the European Commission have issued on the Future of Europe, as well as the list of the upcoming Citizens’ Dialogues organised in the member states.
