The European Commission has started its annual reporting on the implementation of the National Roma Inclusion Strategies. The Salvation Army, where working with Roma are encouraged to respond to the assessment by filling out the questionnaire (section 2). If you respond; we would ask you to please send the EU Affairs Office a copy of your answers.

The results of the evaluation will be summarised in an official Communication planned to be adopted in Autumn.

Background:

In 2011 the European Commission adopted an EU Framework for National Roma Integration Strategies focussing on four key areas: education, employment, healthcare and housing. The Framework invited all Member States to present the European Commission with their strategy for Roma inclusion or for specific policy measures for the Roma within their wider social inclusion policies. Now there is an annual reporting process that civil society can contribute to monitor how these strategies have (or not) been implemented nationally. We would encourage you to contact your National contact points (46 kB) which have been set up in each country for Roma integration strategies to find out how to be involved.
