FEAD and food waste

7th FEAD Network meeting, 21st September, Brussels
Major Mike Stannett attended the 7th FEAD* Network meeting bringing together a variety of producers, retailers, food banks, the EU, FEAD and charitable food distributers from all over Europe to discuss how to reduce food waste , how to creatively recycle food and how to engage all parties together.
Discussions ranged from setting the picture outlining the amount of food waste to how some supermarkets are responding. Presentations explored how local charities are finding it difficult to cover the costs of distributions, with suggestions of how retailers can help. The conference concluded with some creative ideas of how to use food waste to develop partnerships and fellowship within the community and recipients.
