In his New Year Message General André Cox reflects on the scandals surrounding 2017, including terror attacks and mass shooting – open slave sales in Libya, and sex scandals in the entertainment sector which moved into other areas of public life. Fear and hatred of foreigners is on the rise he laments with no signs of human trafficking going away. There are more people in slavery today than any other time on history – 44 million men, women and children – which is the equivalent to the entire populations of Canada, New Zealand and Mongolia. He encourages us all to give value to those that society says are worth nothing, empower the powerless and to practice indiscriminate love.
