PROTECT was a two-year transnational project that aims to identify victims of trafficking and to assist them to access their rights through improved frontline practitioner practices. It was a project carried out by the British and Croatian Red Cross Societies to identify and protect potential and actual victims of trafficking in human beings and supported by European Commission funding. The project entitled PROTECT (Persons at risk of trafficking in Europe - capacity to identify and assist potential victims of human trafficking) was supported within the framework of a targeted call on trafficking in human beings within the programme "Prevention of and fight against Crime 2007-2013”.

The project aimed to respond directly to the needs of victims by establishing a good practice model with which 138 frontline practitioners/specialist caseworkers (border guards, law enforcement agents) can identify and provide assistance that is compliant with a victim centred approach. By using a training of trainers methodology, this project can now be replicable and multiplied.
