Investing in services for people’s well-being
In December The Salvation Army attended an event organised by Social Platform on ‘Investing in Services for people’s well-being – from good practices to better policies’. The event aimed to show that investing in high quality social, health, employment services and social infrastructures is an investment in people and the future. Conclusions underlined that there must be financial investment in services in order for people to benefit and that
- Services must be ‘people’ centred
- Investment does not always cost money
- It is important to see ‘long term growth’
Among other issues, discussions focused on questions such as ‘How communities can benefit from migrants’ and refugees’ contributions’ and ‘How empowerment of users and partnerships between different actors innovate services’. They also discussed how empowering and giving equal rights to migrants and refugees brings benefits to hosting communities.
Social Platform (of which The Salvation Army is a member) is the largest network of European rights and value-based civil society organisations working in the social sector.
