Moldova passed laws in 2005 & 2008 to prevent violence against women.
Challenges to implement these laws include:
- Insufficient awareness and understanding of the legal provision
- Refused or delayed initiation of the criminal investigation
- Refusal or delay in issuing protection orders by judges
- Judicial corruption
- Non application of appropriate sentences
What was of particular significance to share with The Salvation Army globally?
In some countries there is legal protection for survivors of gender based violence but it is not always implemented.
